DRUG ABUSE IN PAKISTAN

UNODC Country Office Pakistan Representative Cesar Guedes and Mian Zulqarnain Amir Joint Secretary Narcotics Control Division launched the Drug Use in Pakistan . The report reveals a substantial proportion of Pakistan’s population aged 15 to 64 suffer from the devastating consequences of substance abuse. The Report estimates that six per cent – or 6.7 million adults in Pakistan – used drugs in the previous year. The majority of drug users in this study fell between 25 and 39 years of age. Although 4.25 million individuals are considered to be drug dependent, treatment and specialist interventions are in short supply, available to less than 30,000 drug users a year. Of these drug users 80% were men and 20% were women, who were less likely to have received drug treatment then men. Moreover, not all structured treatment is free of charge. In a country where almost a quarter of the population is estimated to be living on less than US$ 1.25 a day, the barriers preventing access to structured treatment are exceptionally high.Cannabis was found to be the most commonly used drug in Pakistan, with by 3.6 per cent of the adult population, or four million people, listed as users. Opiates, namely opium and heroin, are used by almost one per cent of overall drugs users.

Our world and it's foolish Phenomena.

A foolish Phenomena.

In the world we live in we see cases of racism and sexism every day. We see people protesting against these things and saying that these things corrupt our society and that people who have been accused of such things should be punished and abolished. We see movements and local people going against these things,we see measures taken against racism and sexism.We see debates and discussions done in meetings against these things. Yet we never ever think about behavior.We never think about feelings of every person.We never see what can really make a difference.We always miss out one thing and that thing is mutual respect for all.
    It isn't really the case of Racism and Sexism but a case of human respect,ideology and mutual understanding between these people. Why can a white guy harass a white guy and get away with it but if he does the exact same to a Negro that is considered racism. Why can a girl say things like "boys aren't allowed in the kitchen" but if a guy says "girls can't play video games" that's sexism. This is what's wrong in our society.We have created a phenomena in our brains that is full of false thinking and foolishness. It should never be the matter of Gender or physical appearance but a matter of what is right and what is wrong.what is harassing who and what is unkind to say to anyone regardless of their gender or appearance. It should always be a matter of respect. Whites and Negros,man and woman all should be considered human beings and should be treated under one thing and that is, "Humans" and no matter what happens it should always be judged under one thing and that is, "Is it unkind to a Human or not."
   If for once we stop taking things in the sense of racism and sexism and treat matters in the sense of "humanity" we will for sure end these ongoing problems.There should be nothing in the world called Racism nor Sexism.This is not an insult to any man or woman but a way to treat every human being in the world equally regardless of their physical appearance and gender.If we can achieve this thing then we will see a better world in front of us in which there is no discrimination based on appearance and gender and that everything is based on one thing and that is "humans and humanity". We are all humans and deserve to be treated equally without discrimination.This way we can be united and have a better world to live in.

                                   

Pakistani Talk Shows.

In our society today where illiteracy is on verge and awareness is lost our media have provided us with something that they think is useful and wiser.Something that can get us solutions,resolutions,debates,discussions and most of all raise the level of awareness in our population.Yes,we talk about our so called "talk shows" which we see has become an everyday part of a politician's schedule.Many different talk shows held on several private channels have been witnessed and have been called "something better" in our society. Let us see what really happens in these talk shows.
    We say that we need a stage for debate and discussions between politicians so that we can move forward as a nation,firmly united and adamant.But this has never been the case in our Pakistani talk shows. Every day we see a combination of people from different respective parties representing the party and talking on its behalf and trying to prove its stance. Although the base of these talk shows as mentioned before were unity and resolutions, what we get from all these are useless argument where nobody cares to listen to the opposition,fights which results in threats and accusations put on by one party on another. This cycle goes on and on each and every day without a halt. Condemning the opposition,arguing with them,bashing them,all this is what is left of a movement done for the betterment of the nation.
  Even in our daily lives we see the same things happening where nobody looks into his own soul but condemns and accuses others,this is the exact same thing happening in the talk shows.Nobody cares for betterment,nobody cares for solutions nor unity,what everyone thinks of is "HOW TO BASH THE OPPOSITION", If this behavior continues in our talk shows,if these acts of foolishness continue to be presented then it is certain that our nation will never gain awareness,we will never be united and that we will never have the full rights of even be called a nation. Our talk shows have become an arena for those who want to shout out loud all the accusations they can think off,they have become a stage for fights,they have become a set for arguments and above all they have become a perfect example and proof to the existing disunity and hatred that we have in our midst,yet we call ourselves "proud Pakistanis"
And yet we say that we are a nation.it's ironic how every day we show the entire world the discomfort and disunity we have in between us,between brothers,and then we say we want the betterment of Pakistan.
  It is sad to see what has transpired of our society and of the Pakistan that once Allama Iqbal dreamed of and Mohammad Ali Jinnah made for us and what we have done with this,with all the sacrifices made by our predecessors is an symbol of illiteracy,selfishness and cowardice.If we want to be a nation again,if we want to be united once again,if we really want the betterment of "Our PAKISTAN" then we should restrict these talk shows,we should educate those who are in charge of the nation,those who are sitting on high seats.Its not our middle class or lower class which needs education and awareness its our elite class that needs these things.

Punjab Youth Festival: Pakistan outshines India, yet again.

Pakistan outshone India for the second day at the Punjab Youth Festival on Tuesday as men’s and women’s arm-wrestling teams won five out of six matches in different categories.
The two-day Pakistan-India Punjab Games are part of the Punjab Youth Festival.
In the first encounter of the day, Pakistan’s Zameer Sultan trounced India’s Balraj Singh (2-0) in a 65-kilogram category. The 75-kg contest was won by Pakistan’s Ammad Butt, who overwhelmed India’s Tilkraj Mehra in two rounds. Pakistan’s Saifur Rehman Sulehria’s aggressive approach won him the third arm-wrestling match by defeating Dilbagh Singh in a 75-kg plus class.
On the women’s side, India’s Mandeep Kaur demonstrated handy technique and defeated Rabia Khalil of the host team in the 60-kg category. This was India’s only victory in arm-wrestling competitions on Tuesday.

Moiz A Young Pakistani Scrabble Champion

           Yound Moizullah Baig kept his cool and warded off a difficult challenge from 136 youth players to win the Eighth World Youth Scrabble Championship in Dubai on December 14 2013. Moiz created History by becoming the first Pakistani player to win a world scrabble championship. He is also the first player ever to win the scrabbl championship in his very first appearance at this level.

           Moiz played his First ever world championship was in great form throughout the chamionship and eve let his lead slip away. After reaching top spot, he stayed at number one till the very end. Pakistan dominated the championship and also won the trophy for the number one team as no other team came near Pakistan in terms of overall performance.

           The hero Moiz kept the Pakistani flag aloft after taking the number one position at the end.
